Enhanced Experience for Documenting Patient Medications
We’ve redesigned how medications are documented in notes and forms to make the process faster, clearer, and more organized. The new experience includes a simple type-ahead search field, powered by the Unified Medical Language System® (UMLS) RxNorm, a standardized database of generic and branded drugs from the National Library of Medicine. This makes it easy to quickly find and enter the right medication, form and strength, whether generic, brand-name, or supplement.
For non–medication management clinicians, medications can be documented in notes using this new format. Use the Medication field to search a medication name, and choose from results that include details such as dose and form. Additional fields let you capture information on the amount, frequency, symptoms being treated, and prescriber. Once added, simply use the edit icon or delete icon to further manage the medication. Any medication details documented in notes prior to this change will automatically carry forward to the Medication Comments field for reference in this new experience.
Medication management clinicians who do not currently use ePrescribe, or have not yet migrated to DrFirst, can also take advantage of an improved experience to document medications efficiently in notes. Along with the new entry format, each medication can be marked as reviewed, edited or corrected with a reason, or marked as stopped in Psychiatry notes, helping maintain a clear and accurate record of medication history and decisions.
Prescribers using ePrescribe with DrFirst will now enjoy a fully streamlined workflow. Any medication updates made in the patient’s eRx tab automatically appear in the Progress Note, eliminating duplicate entry and saving valuable time. If your practice hasn’t yet transitioned to DrFirst, now is the perfect time to make the switch and take advantage of this powerful improvement.
Lastly, the patient experience is now smoother. Patients can quickly enter their current medications in the Client History Form using the new search functionality, and clinicians can pull those details directly into notes with the History feature.
Please note, we’ll be enabling this feature for practices over the next few days, so keep an eye on your notes to see when it’s available to you!
“Notes to Review” List for Supervisors
Staying on top of supervisee documentation just got easier! A new Notes to Review category is now available on your To-Do List Summary and as a dedicated tab on the main To-Do List, keeping supervisee notes that need review separate from your own notes to complete. To make it even easier to manage, the added Supervisee column lets you sort notes by supervisee, helping you stay organized and prioritize reviews more efficiently.
