New DSM-5 Codes Effective for Appointments on October 1, 2016
By TherapyNotes, LLC on October 4, 2016
The American Psychiatric Association revised several diagnostic codes within the DSM-5. For all appointments on October 1, 2016 or later, be sure to use the new codes.
We have already incorporated the code changes into the TherapyNotes integrated DSM-5 search. However, when you do a note for a patient that already has a diagnosis, the old codes will be copied forward. Be sure to update all diagnosis codes for these patients upon their next note. Once you make the change, TherapyNotes will use the new diagnostic codes thereafter.
The table below summarizes the changes made by the APA.
Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder
Excoriation (Skin-Picking) Disorder
Gender Dysphoria in Adolescents and Adults
Other Specified Depressive Disorder
Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder
Other Specified Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorder
Pica, in adults
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder
Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder
Unspecified Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorder
