What's New: Telehealth 2.0!

By TherapyNotes, LLC on October 30, 2023

Update: All customers have been upgraded to Telehealth 2.0 as of 12/26/2023.

We are excited to announce TherapyNotes Telehealth 2.0, which has been overhauled to include a variety of new features. We have made several updates to the free plan, now called Basic Telehealth. Additionally, we are introducing our new Premium Telehealth option.

Basic Telehealth

Basic Telehealth is an evolution of our current Telehealth service, and continues to be included for free with all TherapyNotes subscriptions. The new features of our Basic plan include:

  • Guest Access allows patients or any guests to join a clinician's waiting room without having to log in to a portal account. From the Telehealth tab of the client portal, they search by the clinician's name and are routed to the clinician's waiting room if there is a scheduled telehealth appointment for that time. We have posted a video below to help both you and your clients learn about this new feature.
  • A waiting room has been added to ensure clinicians are always first in the call. When the clinician is ready, they can accept the client or any guest into the call.
  • Clinicians can manage participants using the new People menu. From this menu, clinicians can accept users from the waiting room into the call, remove users from the waiting room or from the connected call, as well as mute and unmute any participant.
  • A call timer is now displayed once the client and clinician connect together in a call. Clinicians and clients have the ability to show/hide the timer from the Settings menu. The timer is shown by default for clinicians, and hidden by default for clients and guests.
  • Screensharing now includes the ability for clinicians to share sound.

Premium Telehealth

In addition to all the new features listed above, Premium Telehealth adds even more new capabilities including:

  • Group telehealth calls support up to 16 participants on a call together, seamlessly integrating with Group Therapy appointments.
  • Screensharing in Premium allows any user in the call to share their screen. To do this, clients or guests request permission to share their screen from the clinician. Upon approval, they can choose to share a tab, window, or their whole screen, with or without sound. Clinicians can end a screenshare at any time by clicking the screenshare button on their call.
  • Custom backgrounds support allows you to blur your background, select from included background images, or upload your own images.

  • All telehealth calls include high-definition video, regardless of the number of participants

Group Telehealth

Basic Telehealth will be rolled out to practices over the next few weeks. Look for this indication that your account has been updated to Telehealth 2.0 -  a new Welcome dialog to select your display name, camera, and microphone when starting a session. After the update, you can choose to switch to Premium Telehealth from the Telehealth Settings page.

Basic Telehealth will continue to be included with all plans. Premium Telehealth will be only $20 a month per clinician that utilizes Telehealth. However, the Premium plan will be free until December 31, 2023 so you can try it out. We hope you enjoy our new Telehealth 2.0!
