Yes, TherapyNotes is committed to supporting the CPT 2013 code changes which go into effect January 2013. Many codes will be retired and new codes have been added. You should educate yourself on the new codes if you haven't already, and when it's time to convert you'll need to migrate your setting to the new codes. More information will be provided as to how to go about doing this.
The biggest change is the concept of CPT add-on codes. Psychotherapists will now frequently need to pair the add-on code 90785 for "Interactive Psychotherapy" with other codes. This typically occurs when others are present such as parents or interpreters to assist with patient care.
Further, psychiatrists might have up to three codes if they have a code for E/M services plus a psychotherapy code, plus the interactive psychotherapy code.
Another change is that psychotherapy codes are for different time ranges. Instead of 20-30 minute, 45-50 minute, and 75-80 minute ranges there are 30, 45, and 60 minute sessions. If you do sessions longer than that, don't expect to bill insurance plans for it.
