What's New: Patient Password Reset, Patient Time Zones, Rich Text in Notes, and New Outcome Measures!

By TherapyNotes, LLC on October 4, 2023

Today we are enabling some great new features, which we hope you are as excited about as we are!

TherapyPortal Password Reset

TherapyPortal has been updated to allow patients to securely reset their own passwords. Patients can click "Forgot Password" and will be prompted to enter their email address and date of birth. They will then receive an email to complete the validation. The password reset will not be available to patients under certain circumstances, like when the patient has not logged in for some time. Those patients will be prompted to contact the practice. Practice users are still able to initiate the password reset from the patient's Portal tab.

Patient Time Zones

You can now set patient and patient contact time zones from the Patient Info tab. Once set, patients will receive appointment reminders in their own time zone! When a patient’s time zone differs from the practice’s time zone, TherapyNotes users can quickly view a patient’s time in the appointment's tooltip within the parentheses in the header. The practice and patient time zones are also listed at the top of the patient’s Schedule tab.

Rich-Text Editor for Notes

A rich-text editor has been added to many of the fields in notes to better present information! Users can now bold, italicize, and underline text as well as make bulleted or numbered lists, add indents, and horizontal dividers.

Outcome Measures

We have added three new outcome measures to our library: the McLean Screening Instrument for Borderline Personality Disorder(MSI-BPD), the Brief Biosocial Gambling Screen (BBGS), and the SCOFF Questionnaire (SCOFF). As with all outcome measures, your clients will be able to complete these on the client portal in either English or Spanish. Measures will be scored and ready for your review after they are submitted by a client. Completed questionnaires are saved in the client's Documents tab and can be printed or downloaded as PDFs.

McLean Screening Instrument for Borderline Personality Disorder (MSI-BPD)

The MSI-BPD is used to identify symptoms of borderline personality disorder. After the client answers 10 yes/no questions, the clinician can use the results in conjunction with clinical judgment and other tools to help determine if the patient has symptoms consistent with borderline personality disorder and should undergo further assessment or treatment.

Brief Biosocial Gambling Screen (BBGS)

The BBGS provides information about symptoms of problem gambling a client may have experienced in the past 12 months. A response of "Yes" to any of the three questions indicates potential gambling-related problems and the need for additional evaluation in order to determine if a formal diagnosis of problem gambling is appropriate.

SCOFF Questionnaire (SCOFF)

The SCOFF is a brief screener that can help identify possible anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa. This outcome measure alone does not provide a formal diagnosis, but it can identify clients who may benefit from a more comprehensive evaluation to determine presence of an eating disorder.

Insurance Card Requirement

The Client Insurance Form has been updated with a new setting that allows a practice to require a patient to submit insurance card photos along with the form. A practice administrator now has the ability to set this requirement in the edit view of the form. When this requirement is enabled, a patient will not be able to submit the Client Insurance Form without providing unique front and rear photos of their insurance card.
