What's New: Client Insurance Form and Patient Insurance Settings Overhaul!

Stack of multiple insurance policies and a plus symbol

Adding to the new forms and other improvements in TherapyNotes™ 4.73, today's update includes a new client portal form and a major upgrade to managing patient insurance.

Client Insurance Form

The new Client Insurance Form collects information about your patient’s insurance coverage and collects an electronic signature. The patient can also opt out of insurance if needed. Once complete, the information can be manually documented in the patient’s chart. The ability to merge this information into the patient’s chart, or to collect a copy of the insurance card, will be available in a future update. You can preview this new form in the Library, customize the legalese as needed, and begin sending it to your patients immediately.

Patient Insurance Settings Overhaul

We have some exciting changes coming for the patient’s Billing Settings tab! Billers will now have the ability to document multiple insurance policies for patients. Here are some of the key changes:

  • Multiple active policies can be added per patient with different levels of priority, from primary to quaternary.
  • Instead of deleting an old insurance policy to add a new one, old policies can be disabled, so they can still be referenced in the future.
  • Coverage dates can be provided for each policy. Expired policies will automatically be labeled as expired and will no longer be linked to dates of service that occur after the expiration date.

For a detailed look into this feature, check out our Patient Insurance Settings Updates article.

Additionally, we have added the ability to disable payers for your practice as an alternative to deleting them so that records can be maintained accurately. Once this feature is enabled for your practice, you will see a Disable Payer link in the bottom right corner of any payer's Payer Info tab after you click the Edit icon.

Please note: These new billing settings are now available for all new practices and will be enabled for existing practices over the next several weeks.
