What's New 4.74: Updates to Notes, Patients, Billing, and Much More

In our first release of 2022 we have something for everyone! Here are the important improvements you should be aware of.

Notes

  • A new "Additional Details" field will be displayed when completing Risk Assessments so that Clinicians can optionally document specific details about the risk in the same section of the note rather than including the details in the Subjective or Objective sections.
  • The "Recommendation" field on Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Progress Notes will now have the "Continue current therapeutic focus" selected by default to reduce clicks needed to complete the note. This means a few seconds saved writing each note, and therefore more time to browse the TherapyNotes™ TikTok channel.
  • Presenting Problem and Chief Complaint fields now allow up to 50,000 characters. We will be increasing limits on additional fields in future releases.

Patients

  • The "HIPAA Checkbox" on the Patient Info tab will now immediately update when a Notice of Privacy Practices form is signed through the portal. Previously this required a page refresh.
  • The "Patient Info" and "Patient Billing" tabs on a patient's chart have been renamed to simply "Info" and "Billing" to eliminate redundancy and ensure enough space for our upcoming "eRx" tab. Future updates will make similar changes to other areas of TherapyNotes™.

Billing

  • The Submit Electronic Claims page may load much faster for large practices as we no longer auto-load claims if there are more than 500 claims pending, down from 1000. The page was also updated with an enhanced interface for selecting the patient.

  • The Electronic Claim History page now offers optional columns for service codes, location, insurance rate, and insurance amount paid.

  • The Insurance Aging Report has an enhanced interface for selecting clinicians and no longer auto-loads results when you come to the page.

  • The Mark External Items page now allows you to filter by patient, and also no longer auto-loads results when you come to the page.

  • New Place of Service (POS) code 10 "Telehealth Provided in Patient's Home" is available. The description for the Place of Service code 02 has been updated to "Telehealth Provided Other than in Patient's Home". Please refer to the payers or your medical biller for what POS codes to use.

  • We are still rolling out the new patient insurance settings features, allowing you to have multiple policies on file. This has been very successful. All practices will be updated within the next couple of weeks.

Appointment Reminders

  • If an email appointment reminder is opened by the recipient, the Appointment Reminder History displays "Status updated: Read" (for a patient) or "Status updated for a reminder to a patient contact: Read" (for a contact).
  • When an email provider's privacy features interfere with tracking when an email is opened the Appointment Reminder History instead might display "Status updated: May be read" instead.

Staff and User Access

  • Clinicians can now update their own NPI from the Staff Info tab. Previously only Practice Admins could update someone's NPI. This will be useful for upcoming ePrescribe features.
  • A "User status updated" activity log entry will now be created each time a Staff User is activated or deactivated. Previously this was logged amongst other user-related actions making it harder to find the relevant data.
  • An activity log will now be created each time a TherapyNotes™ User snoozes or dismisses a To-Do List Item.
  • An activity log will now be created each time a TherapyPortal™ User views or downloads a Treatment Plan.

Browser Support

  • Telehealth is now supported on the Chrome web browser on iPhones and iPads, assuming you have iOS/iPadOS 14.3 and later. Previously only Safari was supported on these devices. This applies to your clients on TherapyPortal™ and clinicians in TherapyNotes™.
  • Some older browsers are no longer able to access TherapyNotes™ and TherapyPortal™ to ensure maximum compatibility and security. This will not likely affect any of our customers. If you were able to log in today, you're all set! Otherwise, you must update your browser before logging in. For a summary of our supported browsers, visit our help center and read Recommended Web Browsers and Operating Systems.

Coming Soon: ePrescribe!

TherapyNotes™ ePrescribe has passed certification! We are putting on the final touches and finishing up documentation now, so that we can release ePrescribe to early adopters in the next release of TherapyNotes™. We intend to release TherapyNotes™ ePrescribe for all customers in the release thereafter. ePrescribe will be an additional $65/month per prescriber. Sign up to become an early adopter.
